For those who are new to Adrendor, my name is David Gambino. I am a college student in my sophomore year studying agricultural science. I am also a vegetarian, professional saxophonist, farmer, poet, and entrepreneur, progressively getting my name out there so I can impact the world with the knowledge that I have and the experiences I have had. Thus far in life, I have noticed that my skills, mindset, and passionate drive for success are what have allowed me to gain so many unique opportunities. What is most interesting is the fact that most of my success has been driven by the talent that I have.
What I want to express to you all the most is that talent is a true gift and not everyone is born possessing a talent. I suppose it’s just one of the mysteries in life that hasn’t and most likely will never be explained. Some people can read and play music. Others are completely tone deaf and are not able to comprehend music at all whatsoever. Like I said, it’s a mystery as to why some have talent and some don’t. But let me tell you. If you have it, let it shine bright for everyone to see and experience. Employers, friends, family, and strangers will forever note the talent you have and because of this, it will open countless doors that you never thought would be open.
It was 2 years ago that I auditioned for my universities music program upon the opportunity to gain a monetary scholarship. I was set on this and knew if I practiced my ass off I would absolutely get it. So I set the goal and then I implemented what I had planned. I practiced a prepared solo piece. It was a 60’s jazz tune by the name of “Billies Bounce” written by Charlie Parker, a famous saxophonist. The tempo was set at 210 which is very fast but I did not care. I knew what I wanted and was determined to make things work. After months of practicing I finally auditioned. With sweaty hands and a $900.00 alto saxophone I was able get a music scholarship to my university.
Along with this I also had an academic scholarship from my countless hours grinding to get good grades in high school. State exams, regents, and countless tests were bombarding me day after day, year after year for four years. I was on the track team, drum major of the marching band, and an overall busy person that was constantly running around accomplishing things and making strides in my life that in the end, made the stress worth everything. I graduated high school in the top 20 percent of my grade with a 90 average, leadership skills, and countless friends made through my constant interactions.
So if you have a talent. Any talent at all. Use it to brighten your horizon. Use it as a key to open the doors of success because if you don’t, I can guarantee you will look back one day and regret not using the talent that you possess. Go out into the world! Show people what you got! They will love you because you express yourself. They will respect you because you have confidence. They will care for you because you cared for them.
Peace to all,
David Gambino
